We would like to inform that students will be able wear jeans with school t-shirt every Friday by paying $3 for each of these days. If a student has more than 10 DPS points, he/she needs to pay $5 for each Friday.
There are fifteen remaining weeks for first semester. If you pay in advance for the rest of first semester the total price will be only $35. Do not miss this discount opportunity.
In order to be on the "jeans list" for any Friday you must pay the fee by the Thursday before.
If student misses any jeans day for any reason (sickness, field trip, etc.), there is no make-up. The fee is non-refundable.
Dress Code Clarification: Skinny Pants
In our student handbook it states that pants must “fit properly.” Harmony School of Science will no longer allow “skinny” pants. Students arriving at school in “skinny” pants will be held out of class with unexcused absences until appropriate pants are brought to school. What are “skinny” pants? Skinny pants have a skin tight fit throughout the legs and end in a small leg opening.
**Straight leg and tapered leg pants are not considered skinny pants unless they are skin tight throughout the leg. When the pant is pulled away from the calf it should not snap directly back to the skin.

Dear Parents/ Guardians, As you know HSS-Austin believes that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the most important factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement and we all agree that parental involvement should go beyond attendance at teacher conferences and open house. School is over but we keep working to provide more successful school year for the next year.
We have a project to do before school starts that we are working on is to install balcony to the back of the school which protects children and adults from the harmful rays of the sun (keeping the area cooler in dismissal area) and protects from the rain. It will allow us to make dismissal better and smoother that needed most in our school. If you want to contribute to these projects, please donate some money, come by the campus, or mail in your donation, or make a credit card payment over the phone. We really appreciate anything that you can do to help. We know that with your help we can definitely reach our goals and make our dismissal area safe place for our students.
Following options are to make Donation:
1. Credit Card ( You can do it on the phone ) 2. Check (payable to HSS - Austin) 3. Money Order (payable to HSS - Austin)

From the TEA web site In May 2006, the 79th Legislature passed House Bill 1, which included the District Awards for Teacher Excellence, commonly referred to as D.A.T.E. The purpose of D.A.T.E. is to allow districts to create or continue a system of awards for educators who demonstrate success in improving student achievement. The grant program helps districts to create a local award plan or to implement the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP).
At least 60% of the grant funds must be used to reward teachers and principals who positively impact student academic improvement, growth, and/or achievement. The remaining funds may be used for other allowable activities including stipends and awards for identified teachers, principals, mentors, instructional coaches and master teachers. In addition, these funds may be used for professional development, increasing local data capabilities to support instruction and accountability, and implementing elements of the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP).
